Krandienst enters crawler market

German crane rental company Krandienst Schulz has entered the crawler crane market with the delivery of a 600 tonne Liebherr LR 1600/2.

The company has opted for the new SL13 boom system, which is designed for the erection of wind turbines with hub heights of more than 150 metres. Its first job was on a wind farm in Neiler in the Swabian Alps, where it erected wind turbine components weighing up to 63 tonnes to a height of 138 metres.

Krandienst company owners Günter Sichward and Michael Schmidt-Pöpping, said: “We continue to see plenty of demand for cranes in the wind industry. But our large telescopic cranes are no longer suitable for erecting the latest generation of wind turbines. You need lots of experience and good staff for it. What's more we received excellent support from Liebherr and our staff were trained extensively at the manufacturing plant by crawler crane specialists.”

Krandienst Schulz's 600 tonne Liebherr LR 1600/2 crawler crane

The new LR 1600/2 is fourth Liebherr crane purchased by Krandienst Schulz this year, with the company also having also taken two 100 tonne LTM 1100-5.2s, a 130 tonne LTM 1130-5.1 and a 70 tonne LTM 1070-4.2 All Terrain crane.

Based in Hamburg, the company operates a fleet of 24 telescopic mobile cranes throughout Germany, with load capacities ranging from 30 to 750 tonnes.
