Fatal boom incident

A man died last Thursday after he was crushed between a platform and overhead catwalk at a foundry in Noblesville, Indiana, USA.

The man, Anthony J. Brock, 21, was working from a telescopic boom lift, to repair a leak inside the plant when he became trapped between the guardrail and the overhead catwalk - around three or four metres above the ground. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead 30 minutes after arrival.

The coroner has ruled the death of operator as accidental and given the cause of death as “asphyxia due to mechanical compression.”

In the few days since the incident family and friends have set up an appeal to raise funds for his fiancée and unborn daughter. So far more than $6,000 has been raised. The following is a link to the fund: www.gofundme.com/hkwcwc.
