H&E opens new re-manufacturing centre

H&E Equipment Services has opened a new crane Manitowoc Encore re-manufacturing facility in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

The new complex has two sections, with one devoted to crane re-manufacturing and the other devoted to heavy equipment structural repairs. It is located on the Intercoastal Waterway near the Mississippi River with access to the Gulf of Mexico.

The re-manufacturing centre covers measures 3,700 square metres, with six large service bays, each equipped with a 10 tonne overhead crane. The entire service floor is also covered by a 75 tonne mobile industrial gantry crane. The shop can accommodate up to six crane re-manufacturing projects at one time, along with numerous component rebuilds.

The structural repair centre is 1,400 square metres, with two 10 tonne overhead cranes and is fully-equipped with five structural alignment welding tables, fixtures and special tooling for crane boom and component repair.

The services offered include crane re-manufacturing and repair, structural repairs, component rebuilds, marine project mobilisation, derrick service, and equipment cleaning, blasting and painting. The company employs a team of Manitowoc-certified staff, including technicians, blasters, painters and welders.

H&E branch manager Frank Arthur said: “We are excited about the improvements to our facilities and capabilities. We used to have a small facility where 75 percent of our work was performed outside, but now we can do 85 percent of it inside. This will allow us to achieve greater quality and productivity by working in a controlled environment.”
