Tadano to introduce new 51t RT

Tadano has confirmed that it will launch a new 51 tonne capacity road-going Rough Terrain crane next year, aimed at export markets such as South east Asia.

The GR-500EXL will feature a 42 metre five section boom, right-hand drive, all wheel leaf spring suspension, and a road speed of 48kph from a Mitsubishi power unit. A side stowing jib extends from eight to 12.7 metres and offsets at five, 25 or 45 degrees.

Weighing 38.3 tonnes all up the crane has a shorter overall length than previous models and a larger counterweight has reduced the outrigger spread required for a given capacity, making it ideal for congested sites in markets such as Singapore. Outriggers settings are also automatically monitored and the load indicator adjusted to suit the set up.

The crane also uses shorter twin boom lift cylinders which is said to dramatically improve visibility from the cab when driving. The crane also incorporates Tadano's fuel monitoring system, and ‘Eco-mode’ feature which reduces fuel consumption when the crane is being operated
First production units are due in March 2015.
