Lifterz adds to spider lift division

UK based rental company Lifterz has ordered three 19 metre CMC S19’s and a further two 15 metre CMC S15 tracked spider lifts for its spider lift division in the East Midlands.

The S19 has an outreach of 8.4 metres with 230kg platform capacity and features non-marking, width adjustable tracks and automatic levelling. The S15 has a maximum seven metre outreach with a 200kg platform capacity. All five units will be powered by Hatz diesel engines.

Operating from its specialist products depot in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, the spider lift division was established earlier this year after it acquired The Spiderlift Company’s rental operation – see: Lifterz acquires The Spiderlift Company. As well as ordering six 15 metre CMC S15s and three 19 CMC S19s, the acquisition included seven Teupen spider lifts and a 12 tonne transport vehicle. With delivery of the S19s and S15s set for the beginning of next year, the company will have 17 spider lifts with working heights from 15 to 36 metres.

Lifterz joint managing director, Ben Bowers, said: “Our first attempt at the spider lift market back in 2011 was a total flop. We bought just one spider which turned out to be the wrong platform and beside that we weren’t prepared for the differences in the self-propelled and spider lift markets. So we sold the unit off and vowed that we would never buy another spider lift unless we took it more seriously. Our view was that it needed to be operated away from the self-propelled fleet, with its own dedicated staff and transport arrangements.”

With significant investment planned for 2015, the company has also recently taken delivery of a used 36 metre Teupen Leo 36T and will be transferring its two Maeda spider cranes from sister company Lifterz Cranes.

Its great to work with and alongside a company so focussed in what they do - its also clear that they are serious in the spider lift market being dedicated to offering a sole depot for the spiders!

Congrats to the whole Lifterz team for making such a good job of taking over what we started. I am pleased to see the new depot now established and growing and proud to have offered my support. I also think the Sutton team are a great young bunch, all fired up and making things happen, well done guys.
Onward & upward!

P.S. The engine on the new CMC S15 & S19 is Kubota, not HATZ.
