Crane recovered from ditch

A five axle All Terrain crane has been recovered after slipping off a narrow road into a bog in Northern Holland. The operator fortunately had a soft landing and escaped without injury.

The crane looks like a Terex Demag AC120 and is owned by Dutch crane rental company Kuphuis, and was travelling with a two axle trailer and was travelling to a job on a house in the small town of Kalenburg in the heart of the De Weerribben-Wieden National Park in the province of Overijssel, to the North East of Amsterdam.

We understand that the crane slipped into the mire on Wednesday and was recovered early this morning. A large quantity of sand was brought in to create space on the soft ground to the front and the rear of the stricken crane and then large timer mats placed on top so that the two recovery cranes could set up – placing steel outrigger mats on top of the timbers.

The two recovery cranes were supplied by Dick ten Kloster and BKF - a partner of Kuphuis within the KVN association of independent crane rental companies.
