CICA confirms new president and board

The Crane Industry Council of Australia has confirmed Danny Black as its new president, Tom Smith as vice president and also confirmed the composition of the board of directors for 2014/2015, which includes a new director Geoff Bevan.

Danny Black


Black is general manager of Terex Cranes Australia, having joined the company when it acquired Franna Cranes, where he was engineering manager, while Smith is director of Williamstown Crane Hire in Melbourne.

Tom Smith


John Gillespie of Gillespie Crane Hire steps down as president after 10 years in the post. He was presented with a special framed composition of photographs from his time as president of the organisation.

CICA chief executive Alan Marshall said: “I am pleased to say the CICA Board continues as a strong and experienced team, now led by Danny Black as the new president and Tom smith as the new vice president. Of course CICA is privileged to have such worthy volunteers working with our State Branch Committee volunteers to progress and lead CICA forward.”

“On behalf of members, I would like to acknowledge and greatly thank the CICA Board volunteers, especially John Gillespie for his untiring contribution and our newly elected director Geoff Bevan,” added Black. "I would also like to recognise and thank Geoff Hughes and Ray Brenton who have retired from the board following the AGM.”
