First Tadano for Southern Crane

US crane rental company Southern Crane of North Carolina has taken delivery of its first Tadano All Terrain crane - a 90 tonne, four axle ATF 90G-4.

The new crane offers a 51.2 metre main boom, plus a 10 to 18 metre bi-fold swingaway with up to 40 degrees offset, all wheel drive and steer (including crab steer) and boom down control, which reduces the speed gradually as it gets close to maximum capacity. The new crane will be used for work on cellular towers, modular homes, HVAC, and other taxi rental opportunities.

Southern’s president Earl Johnson said: “The 168ft main boom and 59ft jib combination is a very attractive combination for our business, as it allows for quick set-up and take-down, even in conditions where there is not a lot of room. I also talked with other Tadano owners who claimed the maintenance and dependability was second to none.”

“We really like the interior tilt controls and seat which gives the operator very good visibility. This is the first Tadano we have ever purchased and our team is very impressed with the features this crane has to offer.”
