Man electrocuted during joy ride

A man died on Sunday evening after he contacted overhead power lines while giving an 11 year old a ride in a work platform, in Circleville, Ohio.

The man, who has been named as Jeremiah Webb, 36, was thrown out of the bucket truck by the shock, leaving the girl - a friend of his daughter - stranded in close proximity to the live high power line for around 40 minutes while a crew from American Electric Power turned off the power and prepared a rescue.

Webb was airlifted to the burns unit at a local hospital but was declared dead a few hours after arrival. It is not known if he died from the shock or the fall. He had apparently taken the vehicle home without authorisation from his employer - Seyfang Electric.
