Terex crawlers for Mota-Engil

Portuguese construction and engineering company Mota-Engil has taken delivery of a 208 tonne Terex HC 230 and 275 tonne HC 275 lattice boom crawler crane from the company’s Peru distributor, Ferreyros.

Both cranes were delivered directly to the port of Paita in Peru where they have been put straight to work constructing a new pier, from a barge. The HC 230 and HC275 have a maximum under hook height of 85 and 91 metres respectively and in this configuration can lift 28 and 33.8 tonnes respectively at a radius of 15 metres. The cranes will work 24 hours a day, alternating every 12 hours.

Joshua García, Mota-Engil assistant equipment manager, said: “For us, efficient and reliable equipment means savings in time and money. Downtime because of broken equipment means we are losing capital since we have deadlines to meet. We all know that Ferreyros is the country’s largest distributor, and we are aware of their customer focus. They try to fully understand our exact needs, and provide us with advice on the selection of equipment. They always have an expert available to assist us, which is the most important.”
