Sommer takes 300 tonner

German crane rental company Sommer Kranverleih has taken delivery of a 300 tonne Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 All Terrain crane.

The six-axle LTM 1300 has a 78 metre main boom and a 70 metre luffing jib. It will be used for industrial installations, tower crane erection and for the repair and dismantling of smaller wind power plants.

Sommer managing director, Björn Sommer, said: "Our customer's needs are growing when it comes to capacity and lifting height. Since our largest crane, the 220 tonne LTM 1220-5.2, could no longer reach everywhere, we decided to purchase the new LTM 1300-6.2 with the luffing fly jib. As the smallest luffing fly jib crane on the market, it's perfect for getting us into this category. We like the weight advantage of the new design with just one engine, too."

The company has also purchased an additional four Liebherr cranes this year including a 55 tonne LTM 1055-3.2, a 130 tonne Liebherr LTM 1130-5.1 and two 90 tonne LTM 1090-4.1s. Founded in 1959 Sommer has a fleet of 15 Liebherr cranes – the oldest being a 25 tonne LTM 1025 which was built in 1991.
