Sing for your supper

Kevin Fox of Skyjack UK has sung his way to the sale of a 63ft Skyjack SJ 63AJ articulated boom lift.

The deal was done after he was challenged to sing in front of a crowd of around 200 by Ben James, owner of 1UP Platforms while the two were at the British Open golf tournament last month. The deal was that if he did it James would buy the boom lift.

Three songs later and James conceded the challenge and signed the purchase order. “I first sang Happy Birthday, but Ben deemed it to be cheating, so I sang two more songs including Hotel California, at which point the crowd started to join in,” said Fox. “Surely the deal should have been one sale per song?”

Fox is actually an accomplished singer songwriter and still plays in the band Playback performing regularly throughout the UK. With the new machine now ready for delivery Fox has added a nice touch in signing the machine prior to delivery.
