Michelin launches trailer tyre

Michelin has launched its new trailer tyre – the 385/65 R 22.5 X Multi T – intended for the European market.

The new tyre’s tread design is said to offer excellent grip on dry and wet surfaces and is suitability for winter conditions. The introduction of a new Carbion rubber compound further reduces rolling resistance, fuel consumption and CO ₂ emissions compared with previous tyres offering savings of 0.7 litres per 100km and a 10 percent increase in mileage.

The X Multi T has a retread acceptability rate of 88 percent and will be available for use with Michelin’s Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips enabling managers to be able to track the use and condition of a fleet’s tyres.

Guy Heywood, commercial director of Michelin said: “We’ve taken a tyre popular with both trailer manufacturers and fleet operators alike, and built in new technology to deliver significant improvements on an already winning formula.”

The new 65-series X Multi T replaces the XTE3 of the same size, which has sold more than 4 million units throughout Europe since its launch in 2007.

They all say "You can't reinvent the wheel". Well take a look at the new X Multi T 385/65 R 22.5 trailer tyre says I!

Never again will you forget what tyre replacement you need with such a catchy name and standout design profile.

Gone too are the days of significant rolling resistance. If there is one issue that the Cranes and Access industry has been campaigning about since it's inception, it's the incredible amount of rolling resistance on our tyres. Not only will this wheel reduce the cost burden of deliveries, but without said resistance, deliveries will be made in record time too!

I'm adding extra axles on my trailers just so I can fit as many of these new X Multi T 385/65 R 22.5 trailer tyres as possible. With enough of them I reckon at a saving of 0.7 litres per 100km I can practically earn money just by driving!

If you're going to buy just one tyre this year, make sure it's this one.

Jeez, cute boot man, when can we get these beauties in The States?
You Europeans have all the luck and the look.
I would convert my truck to litres and kilometres if that is what it takes to get these mothers on my trailer.
Way to go Michelin Man, but always wondered why do you look like a marshmallow? Suppose it's a French food thing, love you though, tires & food what more is there?

I bought 6 of the XTE3 version for my grandfather last year. He said he'd never had his bonfire burn for so long.
I can't yet speak for the flammability rating of these new tyres but their suitability for winter can only imagine that Michelin have done it again! And what with the reduced CO2 associated, the eco-nazis can’t possibly complain.
I can’t wait to see his face light up when he throws these on the pit, I expect his friends will all be queuing to get their hands on some.

It is not just black, round and French it is groovy and what great innovative grooves, I am spellbound.
My trailer is going to love it.
88% retread acceptability rate is unbelievable, that is the added WOW factor for me, can't wait to get my rims in one or possibly two.
There are times when such innovation just makes your day, thanks Vertikal for bringing to our attention

WOW, such a startling and amazing tyre. I don't even have a trailer but this makes me want to go right out there and buy one just so I can fit these tyres on it. The 0.7 litre per 100km fuel saving alone must pay for itself within the life of the trailer. I think there was probably a lot of people out there who thought you couldn't improve on the XTE3 but the new 65-series X Multi T launch must be whetting their budget appetite. Well done Michelin and thanks for bringing some excitement into what can be a rather uninteresting industry of humdrum cranes and access.
