Vp acquires Balfour Beatty Rail

UK based rental group Vp has acquired the business and assets of the trackside equipment rental activity of Balfour Beatty Rail, for £5.5 million in cash.

The trackside rail equipment rental activity operates from a number of locations in the South East of England and will be integrated into Vp’s Torrent Trackside operations. The acquisition includes a five year framework agreement for the supply of trackside rental equipment to Balfour Beatty Rail across the UK.

Vp chairman Jeremy Pilkington said: "This transaction further strengths our business relationship with the Balfour Beatty group and at the same time positions Torrent Trackside as the leading supplier of specialist portable rail equipment and associated services to the UK rail sector."

Vp is the owner of telehandler rental company UK Forks, general rental company Hire Station and ground mats supplier TPA

This looks like another good bolt-on acquisition for Vp which has been following a policy of steady expansion through organic growth and modest sized acquisitions that are easily integrated into its current operations.
