Stuck 40 metres up

The emergency services had to rescue two men stranded in 150ft boom lift in Newburgh, New York yesterday.

The men had taken a JLG 1500SJ boom lift up at the local United Rentals yard and extended it close to its full height when the machine locked out. The ladder platform from the local fire department was only 100ft and was too far off to help with a rescue. The local police claim that the manufacturer was called and asked for an override code for the lockout, but, were denied the information given concern that the platform was occupied.

The two men stuck in the platform

The fire department in nearby Orange County was called and came along with its 130ft ladder platform, while still too short, the crew used a ladder to reach the JLG's platform and rescue the two men.

The rescue - looks like the other boom lift is closer than the fire ladder?
