Paramount takes UK’s first Omme

UK based rental company Paramount Platforms has taken delivery of the first 42 metre Omme Lift 4200 RBDJ hybrid spider lift in the UK.

With a working height of 42 metres and a maximum outreach of 15.2 metres, the 4200 RBDJ is the company’s largest spider lift to date. Weighing 6,805kg the machine can set up and work on inclines of up to 27 percent. Other features include hydraulic tracks extension from a width of 1.35 metres to 1.75 metres, a 130 degree articulating jib. Platform capacity is 200kg.

Its diesel/battery hybrid drive means that the 4200 RBDJ can work both indoors and outdoors. The 400Ah battery pack - which is automatically recharged whenever the diesel engine is deployed – is said to eliminate ‘voltage drop’ which Omme says can reduce the operation of a mains-powered machine even when using a relatively short power cable.

Lee Kerr of Paramount Platforms said: “We continue to invest in our rental fleet to meet growing customer demand. This new Omme Lift was exactly what we were looking for in terms of flexibility and performance. We wanted a versatile machine that performs equally well on rough terrain for phone mast work as it would in a shopping centre putting up the Christmas lights. The hybrid power train is a very important criterion for our London work, along with a light weight and compact dimensions."

Based in Chelmsford, Paramount has a growing fleet of spider lifts and truck mounted booms. The company purchased its new lift from Omme Lift distributor Access Platform Sales (APS), having purchased its first Omme last year.
