LHM 550 for Norwegian port

The Port Authority of Drammen has taken delivery of a Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour crane.

With a maximum lift capacity of 144 tonnes and a boom length of 54 metres the LHM 550 is equipped with Liebherr’s Pactronic hybrid drive system, which the company claims provides a 30 percent reduction in fuel consumption. The system is also virtually maintenance free and only requires a visible inspection every 10 years. The crane joins a LHM 400 which has been in operation since 2008.

Port Authority of Drammen director Einar Olsen, said: “We are experiencing a significant container traffic increase in Drammen. Due to the LHM 550 we have sufficient capacity to smoothly handle current container volumes. Moreover, we have capacity available for future growth.”
