10 Manitowocs for ALL

ALL Erection & Crane Rental has purchased 10 of Manitowoc’s new MLC300 crawler cranes featuring the company’s Variable Position Counterweight technology.

Launched at Conexpo along with the 650 tonne MLC650, the MLC300 features a 96 metre boom, an optional 30 metre fixed jib attachment and a 96 metre luffing jib which extends the system length to 144 metres. It also features Manitowoc’s Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) technology which automatically positions the counterweight in the optimum position for the required lift. By shifting the machine’s balance to keep the weight centred over tracks, the amount of ground preparation required may be reduced thanks to lower ground bearing pressures.

The MLC300 is designed for easy transport and set up, with jib sections stowing within main boom sections, jacking systems and a live mast. As well as featuring Manitowoc’s FACT connection technology and its Crane Control System (CCS) it also features its automatic track tensioning system which allows independent track tension adjustment via the crane setup remote and standard hydraulic connection.

Michael Liptak, president of ALL said: “This is our bread-and-butter capacity range, and being able to create savings for our customers at this capacity is part of why customers choose ALL. We can reduce the number of required mats by half. That’s thousands of dollars in savings per month, and that’s saying nothing of the reduced counterweight loads and the savings realized by reducing the required job site prep area. Without hyperbole, I tell you that this technology will change the crawler category. We are also very pleased that these units will feature zinc primer paint and new stipple paint finish. This goes a long way to support the long-term value of our fleet.”
