Mobile harbour crane to Oz

Australian stevedore company Northern Stevedoring Services (NSS) has ordered a Liebherr LHM 420 mobile harbour crane for its port in Townsville, Queensland.

The 124 tonne crane has been supplied with double supporting pads and software to assist in meeting the quay restrictions, along with Liebherr’s Cycoptronic anti-sway system and a twinlift spreader. It has also fitted to operate with its Rotabox system for dust-free mineral handling.

NSS general manager Chris Ullett said: “It’s taken a few months to get quay approval, but Liebherr never gave up, offering solutions to all the problems. The quay has many restrictions, but between the port authority, Liebherr and ourselves, we finally made it work.”
