Seven harbour cranes for South America

Liebherr Maritime Cranes has recently received orders for seven mobile harbour cranes destined for South America.

Compania Portuaria Mejillones of Chile has ordered a 208 tonne LHM 600 fitted with a specially designed tower extension to provide the operator has better line of sight into the ship. Capable of servicing vessels up to 19 container rows wide, the LHM 600 provides a maximum outreach of 58 metres. Chile’s Terminal Puerto Arica has also ordered an LHM 600 for its port in Arica, Chile.

In Brazil, Chibatão Navegação e Comércio has ordered three Liebherr Barge Slewing (LBS) 600 cranes which are effectively mobile harbour cranes on a fixed pedestal and mounted on large barges.

Finally in Peru, port operator Callao has placed an order for two LHM 550 harbour cranes fitted with Liebherr’s Pactronic hybrid power booster, which the company claims provides a 30 percent reduction in fuel consumption. The hybrid drive system is also virtually maintenance free and only requires a visible inspection every 10 years.
