Wolffkran unveils city crane

German tower crane manufacturer Wolffkran has unveiled a new six tonne flat top Wolff 5014 City crane at the Baumaschinen messe Bern construction equipment show in Switzerland.

The 5014 City has a maximum lift capacity of six tonnes and can handle 1.4 tonnes at its 50 metre jib tip. When the crane is erected on Wolffkran’s TFS 15 tower it can offer hook heights of up to 43.5 metres. The company said this can be increased by using stronger tower elements and an adapter.

Depending on the requirements the 5014 can be operated from the ground or from the optional cab. The crane’s radio remote controller features a full digital display that not only provides the load data of the crane but also shows wind speeds, hook height, rotation angle and error messages.

A redesigned hoist offers greater storage capacity, handling up to 190 metres of rope and when lifting loads up to 1.1 tonne the 28kW winch offers load speeds up to 108 metres a minute. The hoist/winch is mounted on the first jib section, allowing for the entire fully reeved jib to be easily and safety assembled on the ground. If there is enough space on site it can also be pre-assembled with the counter jib. At more confined locations it can also be assembled in the air with the jib extended in 2.5 metre segments to between 25 and 50 metres.

The counterweights are easily accessable with the counter jib's continuous walking surface

The counter jib is equipped with a continuous walking surface, making the counterweights, all of which weigh 1.8 tonnes, easily and safely accessible. A newly designed tower connection section also provides better access to the control cabinet platform, which can also accommodate the cab when required. Additional features include the company’s latest crane control system and its Boost system which allows for 10 percent more lifting capacity.

Product manager Gerd Tiedtke said: “The number of people living in cities is on the rise and so too is the need for new living space. Compact cranes are in high demand at inner-city construction sites. These cranes have to be both powerful and easy to assemble. Our engineers focused their latest development on this demographic trend, but included the features seen on Wolff’s clear cranes in the higher crane classes.”

Another good addition from Wolff, who are in my opinion, the best Tower Crane manufacturer.
