Manitowoc Encore in Africa

Manitowoc Crane Care has certified Paterson Simons as an official EnCORE rebuild partner for West Africa.

Paterson Simons is now offering its customers a fully certified repair and refurbishment service for Manitowoc crawler cranes, Grove mobile cranes and National Crane boom trucks from its base in Ghana.

John Traynor, managing director at Paterson Simons said: “Cranes in Africa often have a hard life. We can now offer a local and cost-effective solution that not only extends the service life of a crane, but ensures any repair and refurbishment work is done to the highest standards. We’ve been around for six decades and built our business around our customers – I’m confident that this new capability will help to develop our reputation even further.”

Established in 1948, Paterson Simons has been a Manitowoc partner for 60 years, supplying construction equipment to the shipping, mining and construction industries across West Africa.

The EnCORE programme now has 18 partners operating from 32 certified locations worldwide, three of which are located in the Europe, Africa and Middle East region.

To qualify dealers must invest in the training of technical staff, including advanced training for welders to earn the correct certifications for welding structural components on cranes and add a trained structural engineer to deal directly with Manitowoc on technical issues. Manitowoc Crane Care provides full commercial, technical and financial support.
