Fatal scaffold fall

A man working on a construction site in Barangaroo near Sydney Harbour, Australia has died after falling 30 metres from a scaffold this morning.

The man said to be 30 years old, may have suffered from a medical emergency, such as a heart attack just before he fell from the scaffold.

The waterfront site, which includes offices, apartment buildings and a casino, is being developed by Lend Lease Lend Lease which said in a statement: "We are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident and working with the relevant authorities. Lend Lease works tirelessly to eliminate incidents and injuries on its worksites. Our thoughts are with the worker's family and friends and our focus now is on the welfare of the family of the deceased and all of our workers affected by the incident."

WorkCover NSW inspectors are on the scene investigating the death, while police will prepare a report for the coroner.
