Prior to this appointment Rhoda was chief technology officer with Doosan Infracore Construction Equipment, and before that spent over five years with Volvo Construction Equipment as vice president of product development, and chief executive of its excavator business. He began his manufacturing career with Ingersoll Rand where he spent 17 years, mostly with its compressor division. He began as a field and product engineer with Schlumberger and then Allied Signal.

Sany group chairman Liang Wengen said: "Mike Rhoda has more than two decades of directly relevant experience in the off-highway equipment sector, including work in Asia and emerging markets. Mike's strategic expertise and record of accomplishment will serve Sany well as we continue to grow our presence and further establish our brand as a market leader in North and Central America."

"I am honoured that the board has selected me to lead Sany America and the dedicated and talented group of employees who work here," added Rhoda. "We will build on the company's recent successes, which include a significant expansion of our dealer network, as well as growing sales and profit in this important market. Sany is the fifth-largest manufacturer of construction equipment in the world, and has a great reputation in China for product support and service. We intend to work hard to ensure that every Sany customer here can count on excellent support as well."
