Harsco invests in new fleet

Harsco Infrastructure UK has invested in a fleet of 19 new DAF CF trucks equipped with PM 28.5 loader cranes.

Operating out of Harsco’s nine UK depots they will be used to deliver and support its access, formwork and industrial maintenance services. Nine are 26 tonne, rigid chassis vehicles while the remainder are tractor and trailer units.

As well as signing a five year repair and maintenance contract for the vehicles, the company has specified the vehicles with larger engines, which in combination with a 50 mph maximum speed limit, will - according to the company - reduce emissions and deliver fuel savings of up to 20 percent.

Harsco transport manager John McKeever, said: “We worked closely with the team at PM to customise these cranes to suit our particular needs. They are the first PM cranes of their kind in the UK that have been specially designed to work via remote control, which will make our loading and unloading operations both faster and more efficient.”

The company has also invested in 40 new Caterpillar fork lift trucks as well as 140 new cars and vans which are scheduled for delivery in 2015.
