David Jackson 1947 - 2013

We have received the sad news that David Clark Jackson, until recently vice president of engineering at Tulsa Winch, died last weekend aged 65.

Jackson joined the Marine Corps after school and served his country in Vietnam, and was wounded during the TET offensive, during his time with the marines he earned two Purple Heart medals.

After leaving military service he started out as a mechanic for a Volkswagen distributor, before moving to Indiana with his wife Johanna to take up a position with an Indy car racing team.

The two later returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma where Jackson joined the service truck crane manufacturer Auto Crane, before joining winch manufacturer DP Manufacturing, and finally the Tulsa Winch Group where he became vice president of engineering. In total he served 17 years with Tulsa, and retired just before his untimely death.

His wife Johnna pre-deceased him. In a tribute to his passing a member of his family said: “David was a natural born mechanic and had a genuine love for racing. He designed and built really fast Formula V’s and Formula Fords. He and Johnna spent countless weekends on the road pursuing David’s passion.”
