Online documentation for used lifts

UK rental company AFI has started putting the service and inspection history of its used machine inventory online.

The AFI Resale website now offers the option - on special offer machines - to view service documentation

The company is initially experimenting with the concept on its special offer machines, for those units an interested buyer simply signs in and then clicks the 'View Machine Service History' button.

The machines we looked at had documents available for Loler inspections, and under Service Documents - PDI inspection reports –from the past few years all available as downloadable PDF files.

Both Loler and PDI documents are available

AFI director Nick Selley said: “This development is about giving our customers complete peace of mind because when they look on our website at a machine they are interested in buying they can now see the service history, LOLERs and pre-delivery inspection sheets specific to that machine.”

“These documents will show purchasers how rigorously the machines have been maintained over the course of their working life and the stringent checks that have been carried out. We have initially made the documents available on our Special Offer machines, and depending on interest and feedback we will then consider rolling out the initiative.”

Earlier this year AFI Resale recorded its 2,000th powered access machine sale since it was set up six years ago. Sales have grown by more than 35 percent each year, with demand from both UK and overseas buyers.

Vertikal Comment

This is a very good idea and should prove useful to potential buyers, as the relevant documentation can tell a great deal about specific units, its reliability, what new parts have been fitted and how often it was inspected and tested over its life. A very useful and positive move.
