UAE Death Wish

A photo sent in by a reader in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, shows a man attempting to gain an extra two metres on a boom lift.

Clearly the maximum working height of the boom lift – which looks to be in a sorry state – is not quite high enough to complete the job in hand. The solution? With very little thought for his own safety, the man has climbed up onto the guardrails with his colleague holding him in place. We can only hope there wasn’t too much recoil from the power washer!

In the words of our reader: “Another picture for the safety board. One of my colleagues looked out of his apartment window to see these two safety conscious guys cleaning the building eight floors up. No harness or other safety gear. Safety for some companies in Sharjah is still not a priority.”

Eight floors up and held in place...

Definitely one for our Death Wish series.

Just a follow up to that. My colleague informed me that (being an AWP instructor)he went down stairs to speak to their management (and hopefully get some buisness)only to find the sire management observing what was going on!!!!!!!!!
