AB2000 acquires Ellon

UK crane and heavy equipment rental company AB2000 has acquired the full share capital of Ellon Plant Hire of Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

Arlene Harrison of Ellon Plant Hire will remain with the business as plant manager, and Ellon Plant will continue to trade as under its own name, although it will relocate to AB2000’s newly opened yard, work shop and offices at Fountainbleau, Tipperty - 10 miles North of Aberdeen, close to the route of the new Aberdeen by-pass.

AB2000’s northern area manager David Christie currently manages the depots in Inverness and Aberdeen. Ricky Johnston has been added to the team at Inverness.

AB2000 is owned by Adam Bruce, past president of the Scottish Plant Owners Association and moved into the crane market when it acquired the crane fleet of Motherwell Bridge in 2005.

Bruce said: “buying Ellon Plant Hire brings us local operators and management, and an established customer base. The deal provides AB2000 with an excellent platform from which to expand our business in the North East of Scotland”.
