Ambulance collides with lift

An ambulance collided with a truck mounted aerial lift working in Basel, Switzerland, last Wednesday, thankfully no one was seriously injured in the incident.

The lift, a Multitel MX model, was working on the street and appears to have raised the top boom and then slewed over the side with its lower boom in the stowed position, so that it protruded into the traffic lane.

The lift was pressed against the building

The passing ambulance caught the boom and the impact shifted the 3.5 tonne mount to the point that its cab banged into the wall of the building that it was working on. The two men using the platform remained in the basket, possibly due to wearing harnesses, although we do know now if they were or not. Perhaps they were just lucky?

They were rescued by the emergency services.
