Stranded in Bath

Two men had to be rescued from a boom lift in Bath, New York on Friday, after their aerial lift failed.

The incident occurred at Machuga Contracting in the town, when owner Rick Machuga and an unnamed photographer became stranded after taking an aerial view of the facility. Unable to get anyone below to use any manual override on the fairly dated Gove MZ40C, they called in the Bath Volunteer Fire Department.

Firefighters used an aerial ladder to transfer the two from the platform to ground.

Photos show that neither of the two were wearing a harness or lanyard, the entry gate drop-bar is tied up and the unit looks to be in the need of some refreshing. We are not sure whether this unit can be manually lowered using gravity should the auxiliary power unit fail.
