Another directory scam

We have received news of yet another directory style scam which you may want to be aware of.

This one comes under the heading EU Business Register. It is the same in almost every way as the old Fair Guide that is still doing the rounds and still catches the unwary. For more info on the Fair or Expo Guide click here

The so called EU Business Register - which like the Fair Guide - has no business use whatsoever, says that it is completely free --- that is unless you sign the form. If when filling out the fairly basic business information you do inadvertently sign it you are supposedly committing the business to €995 a year for three years. In reality just like the Fair Guide any attempt to enforce payment will not stand up in court.

If one has been signed and returned and you have not paid, you will receive chasing letters with late payment penalties and legal costs, but these are best ignored. Those that have got caught and have then ignored the resulting invoice have continued to receive the chasing letters which often escalate in their level of urgency and threats, but that is as far as it goes.
These people, do not wish to be exposed in court.

The address on the forms which tend to be emailed/spammed- is
EU BUSINESS REGISTER
P.O.BOX 3079
3502 GB UTRECHT
THE NETHERLANDS
Fax: +31 205 248 107

If you received one our advice is not to waste your time and to simply delete it. If you have already signed up - don’t worry simply block the sender and ignore any reminders.
