2,400 tonne crane goes to work

Huisman has opened its 380 metre long quayside at its production facility in Zhangzhou (Fujian), China, complete with its 2,400 tonne travelling quayside crane.

The new quayside is specially designed to accommodate large offshore projects. The strong quayside structure combined with strong load chart of the 2,400 tonne Skyhook crane, makes ideal for various kinds of large and deep drafted offshore vessels including semi-submersibles.

The Happy Sky is the first vessel to be worked on at the new 380 metre quay

The Skyhook crane, designed and fabricated by Huisman, has two main lifting configurations, a heavy lift configuration, capable of lifting 2,400 tonnes at 30 metres radius and a hook height of 100 metres, and an extended reach configuration, capable of placing a 200 tonne load at 90 metres and a hook height of 140 metres.

The crane can also travel with these loads along the full length of the quay.

The new quayside was opened during the name-giving ceremony of BigLift’s new Heavy Lift Vessel ‘Happy Sky’. The vessel, built by Larsen & Toubro in India, features two 900 tonne Heavy Lift Huisman Mast Cranes which were the first to be commissioned at the new quay side. It is the first of two Happy S Class vessels to be added to the BigLift fleet. The ‘Happy Star’ will follow early in 2014.
