Fatal fall

A man fell from an aerial work platform in Warrenville, South Carolina, on Monday while cutting down a large storm damaged tree.

The man, Joseph Benjamin Lord, 47, died several hours after the incident, from internal injuries, he was an employee of Ennis Tree Service and was removing the tree from the yard of a private home.

The coroner's preliminary report says that Lord was around 11 to 16 metres in the air, and had cut a section of the tree trunk which then fell backwards onto the basket of the lift.

From the information that we have received it is not clear, whether he was catapulted from the platform or, if the platform actually broke away from the boom?
