Steil Kranarbeiten takes first Superlift 3800

Steil Kranarbeiten based in Trier, Germany has taken delivery of the first Terex Superlift 3800 lattice boom crawler crane.

The 650 tonne Superlift 3800 features a maximum load moment of 8,426 tonne/metres. The unit is designed for international transportation, to reduce erection times and the need for additional equipment. The crane can be delivered with an integrated wind kit in a universal main boom system and is capable of erecting wind turbines to 117 metres without using its superlift boom configuration or requiring an assist crane. It can lift its maximum load of 650 tonnes at a radius of five to 12 metres.

“The crane’s design was what ultimately led to our decision – with a design optimised for transportation and its powerful performance characteristics, this new machine will allow us to tap into a variety of new industrial and wind power sectors,” said general manager Birgit Steil. “Terex has developed a good design between the CC 2800 and the CC 6800. Its lifting capacity, which is larger than that of our CC 2800-1 crawler cranes, will enable us to expand the range of services we offer.”

Steil ordered the crane with a 159 metre LSL and 12 metre LF configuration. “This allows us to tap into new markets and customers throughout Europe,” she said. “Its first contract was a wind farm at Gödenroth immediately after it was delivered.”

Steil has additional locations in Wittlich and Saarwellingen in Germany, as well as in Frisange in Luxembourg.
