Charity cycle ride

UK rental company Clements Plant & Tool Hire is sponsoring amateur cycling team - Wheelie Tyred for a 200 mile charity ride in aid of the Help for Heroes charity.

The team will join over 70 cyclists setting out today for a three day run from Tamworth in Staffordshire, to London to join up with other Help for Heroes charity rides, arriving at Blackheath Common from all over Europe.

On Sunday over 1,200 riders will then cycle together for the last 10 miles through the streets of London to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph. The Wheelie Tyred team is captained by Ian Hancock and is joined by fellow riders Steve Hancock, Keith Hancock, Dave Thackray and Paul Isherwood, who have an average age of a spritely 48.

The Wheelie Tyred team with out of shape Jim Longstaff

Clements managing director Jim Longstaff said: “When Ian first muted it, I was all for it. It is a fantastic cause and we have numerous ex-servicemen and women in our industry and we were happy to commit to become a primary team sponsor”.

“I’m not built for cycling myself (and they couldn’t get a top to fit me anyway), but am happy to be closely associated with the guys and what they are doing, especially as it is for a superb cause.”
