Crane over in Manhattan

A Rough Terrain crane working on a barge in Manhattan, New York overturned this morning as it tried to lift some piles or part of a bulkhead at the south end of the East River.

The crane, a Grove RT540E owned by Phoenix Marine, was properly set up and had all of its boom extended, so it looks as though it was a clear case of overload, possibly caused by the load hanging up.

It looks like a simple case of overload

No one was hurt or injured in the incident and there does not appear to be any serious risk of contamination.
