Fatal road accident

An eight you old boy died last night after his bike collided into the front side of a crane in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The boy Kyle Allan had apparently came down a steep hill on a foot path that leads down to the Great Northern Road where the accident occurred. He was unable to stop and the vehicle he hit just happened to be a crane, it could just have easily been a car, bus or truck.

The incident occurred at 19:30, he was taken to hospital but died a short time later. His uncle, Chris Kinnaird issued a statement via Facebook saying: “I am Kyle Allan’s uncle and I would like to say a big thank you from all the family for all the support and thoughts from you all at this sad and tragic time. It was a tragic accident the crane driver is not to blame nor was Kyle as he did have road sense. So rip wee man - uncle Chris loves you.”

The police are investigating and have appealed for any witnesses but there is absolutely no suggestion that the tragic incident is related at all to the crane or its driver.

The crane after the ambulance had gone

Vertikal Comment

This is obviously a terrible tragedy, and our heart goes out to the family, but also to the crane driver, the fact that he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and played no active role in what happened does not stop the fact that being involved in something like this is traumatic in the extreme.

While all the focus is rightly on the grieving family, spare a thought for this poor man, he will take some time to get over something like this.

Indeed, a terrible tragedy. My deepest sympathy to the parents, family and friends. A lot of courage to the crane operator.
