Kobelco to focus on foundations

Kobelco cranes has confirmed that its Bauma stand will have a strong focus on new foundation cranes.

The first is the BMS1200HD, a new 120 tonne heavy-duty foundation crawler crane with lattice boom crawler crane aimed at the developing world in that it is equipped with a Tier 2 engine. It includes all the usual high speed high power winches and power units, together with easier transportation.

Other units include two 75 tonne telescopic models, the TK750S and TK750FS with 30.5 metre heavy duty booms. The FS model is specifically aimed at foundation work. These cranes have been available in Japan and other East Asian markets and are now seeing their international launch. The unit on show has been sold to Singapore based Sin Heng - its third TK750.

The display will be topped out by a 250 tonne CKE2500G lift crane sold to Netherlands/international crane rental company Hovago. Chief executive Doron Livnat said: “We have bought many Kobelco’s in the past decade and we will keep buying them. They are good, strong, state of the art cranes which have given us extremely reliable service.”

“We have had many satisfied bare rental customers hiring our CKE2500’s all over the world. In Arctic areas in the extreme cold, but also in extreme high temperatures in the deserts of Sudan. The cranes always performed! Never any complaints. They keep good residual value in the international market. What do you need to operate a Kobelco? Good operators, fuel, filters and oil. I don’t think we spend any money on spares!”
