Liebherr delivers first gantry cranes to Saudi Arabia.

Liebherr Container Cranes is to deliver six rail mounted gantry cranes to Jubail Commercial Port in Saudi Arabia.

The cranes have a span of 43 metres and can span 14 containers wide and stack one over six containers high. With a wide leg and narrow leg outreach of 17.5 metres and 16.5 metres respectively, it gives a total bridge length of 77 metres. Safe working load is 40 tonnes under a telescopic spreader and the lift height over the rail is 21 metres.

Gerry Bunyan, Liebherr Container Cranes sales and marketing manager said: “Traditionally Liebherr has supplied RMGs to intermodal and port terminals in Ireland, UK and in Europe. This new order represents the first rail mounted gantry cranes to the Middle East, an area where Liebherr has for many years supplied ship to shore container cranes and rubber tyre gantry cranes.”

The cranes have been ordered by Sinopec E&C Middle East Co. on behalf of Sabic. Other recent deliveries of RMGs include two RMG cranes to the port of Southampton and two RMG cranes for Vladivostok, Russia.

We have already assembled 3 of these cranes and rasied into final position using 4no. 500t liebherrs and 4no. 100t liebherrs at the same time.A very impressive lift 8 cranes at once.
The further 3 RMGs will be erected next week.
