Liebherr goes direct in Mexico

Liebherr has established a new crane sales and service subsidiary in Mexico - Liebherr Mexico S. de R.L. de C.V.

The new business will be a division of the Group’s mobile crane business Liebherr-Werk Ehingen and will initially be responsible for the direct sales and service of Liebherr mobile cranes in Mexico and the other countries of Central America.

Until now, this role has been carried out in Mexico by Nortrack de México, with the distribution contract ending in December.

Liebherr claims that the new subsidiary underlines the growing importance of the Mexican market, as the country’s large-scale investments in the energy and infrastructure sectors increase demand for mobile and crawler cranes.

The fact that local crane rental companies are expanding their operations, while a number of European rental companies have entered the market also played a part in the decision.

It added: “The new company creates the basis for providing even better support for Liebherr customers in Mexico and Central America and for making customer services, including spare parts supplies, even more efficient in the region.”

“In the future, Liebherr Mexico will also act as a platform for the activities of the other Liebherr construction machinery divisions. The product areas duty cycle crawler cranes and deep foundation machines will follow in the next phase of expansion.”

Liebherr already has two subsidiaries in Mexico. Liebherr Monterrey, with responsibility for the production of drive technology components and Liebherr Servicios Monterrey, a local service subsidiary for the component business.
