Few details are available but the men were said to be on the crane boom or in a man platform at a height of around 30 metres. They swam to shore and were unhurt.

The crane's boom appears to have sheared off at the point where the base pivot lugs are welded to the boom butt section.

The Omaha Fire Department deployed a rescue boat and had to cut the trapped operator from his cab.
