Liebherr recently delivered its 1000th mobile harbour crane – an LPS 550 – to Montoir Bulk Terminal (MBT).

Founded in 2011, MBT is the first French terminal for bulk food and peat and is a joint venture between SEA-invest and IDEA Groupe. SEA-invest is one of the world’s largest terminal operators for dry bulk, fruit and liquid bulk and operates 25 ports spread across three continents. The IDEA Groupe, formerly known as MTTM, is a French transport and logistics company which also specialises in bulk supply chains.

Based on the LHM 550 - Liebherr’s most popular mobile harbour crane model – the LPS 550’s undercarriage is mounted on rails and a conveyor belt and hopper are used to for transporting the bulk cargo throughout the terminal.

The crane also features Liebherr’s Cycoptronic system with Teach-In extension. This eliminates load swing through constantly calculating possible sway and automatically initiating dynamic counterbalancing movements. It also features the Pactronic hybrid drive system which Liebherr says boosts performance and reduces emissions by 30 percent.
