Working from the bucket

Another example of someone using a dangerous form of powered access, this time to lop trees.

This example was spotted by a reader in Poland – we are not quite sure where exactly. The man is using a chain saw to remove tree branches and has clearly decided that some sort of platform would be better than climbing.

Working with a chainsaw from a front end loader

However rather than organising the right equipment he has drafted in an agricultural front end loader and a couple of colleagues. While his choice of access is clearly fraught with risk, he and his colleague clearly believe that high-viz vests and a hard hat will protect him from all…. Interesting to see that he treats ear and eye protection in the same vein as safe work at height equipment.

Falls from front end loaders are a frequent cause of fatalities on farms, usually while working on buildings. It is tempting to use something that is to hand rather than take the trouble to rent the proper equipment, but it can so easily end in tragedy. Working with trees and a chain saw doubles the risk.

High - viz vest helmet and even a supervisor on hand, but no safe work platform

In this case when the man spotted the photos being taken he posed and waved proud of his ingenuity. A most definite Death Wish
