New Genie attachment

UK based rental company Aerial and Handling Services of Betchworth has introduced its deckRail Xtra materials handling attachment for Genie scissor lifts - initially designed for a 19ft Genie GS1932.

The deckRail system comprises of floor stiffening saddles and load bearing outer guard rails which replace the original ones. Jaw brackets are then attached which safely restrain and hold materials in place without intrusion into the platform area.

Once installed the jaw brackets can either be set up on both guard rails or just on one side, with each bracket having a simple lashing strap to hold loose material or tubing in place. The system has also been designed so that the deck extension can function normally and weighing just 14kg it only reduces the platform capacity to 213kg.

Initially the system has been designed to fit the Genie GS1932 scissor lift

Ian Harding, director of Aerial and Handling Services, said: “We could see customers becoming frustrated because there is nothing currently available on the market which is suitable. By developing the deckRail Xtra system we now have a benchmark product of our own design specifically to complement Genie scissor lifts. We have GS1932s in our small hire fleet and they are a very popular machine and because Genie have a clear build brief for this type of attachment, it made sense for us to concentrate initially on this model.”

The jaw brackets can either gather and bundle loose materials or restrain larger single items

This system is available for purchase in complete kit form and takes approximately 45 minutes to install. The company have also said that a wider version is being developed which can be fitted to a Genie GS2646 scissor lift.
