Pedestrian struck by swinging crane boom

A man walking along a street in the Western Australian town of Kalgoorlie is fighting for his life today after being struck by the boom of a crane.

We have been told that it was the boom of a loader crane that swung free as it took a corner but have been unable to confirm that. Local news sources do confirm an incident with a crane – but knowing local newspapers that could be anything from an excavator to an aerial lift.

The man, 57, was caught on the side of the head and taken to the local hospital prior to being airlifted to Perth. He is reported to be in a critical but stable condition. If anyone is able to confirm the details we would appreciate it.
