Smiths transports two for the price of one

UK based Smiths Equipment can now transport two of its new 62ft boom lifts on a single truck.

The company has purchased a new Leyland DAF CF75.310, 26 tonne flat bed truck with a body built by PPS Commercials for its new facility in Bury. A key requirement was the ability to fit two of its new Niftylift HR21 4x4 articulated boom lifts on board.

Managing director Thomas Smith said: “We all know how expensive the transportation of larger booms and scissors can be. In the past we had to hire in a low loader and had difficulty in recouping the costs. At well under six and a half tonnes and with their very compact dimensions, we can now transport two 21 metre Niftylifts at a time, effectively cutting our costs in half.”

The HR21 features an outreach of over 12 metres and is available as a diesel powered 4x4, a Bi-Energy (battery and Diesel) powered 2x4, or the increasingly popular Hybrid 4x4.

Smiths Equipment operates from 10 locations in the North West of England and runs an extensive powered access fleet, in addition to its general rental business.
