Challenger for T.Pater

Dutch based heavy lifting and haulage company T. Pater has taken delivery of a new 55 tonne Terex 3160 Challenger All Terrain crane.

Harry Pater, company manager of T. Pater, said: “Its long boom gives us the reach we need without a jib, which helps us work faster and safely. We love the 6.6-tonne line pull, when other cranes need triple or quadruple reeving, the Challenger does a great job with just one or two lines. The boom’s minus five degree boom incline is important for safety as the operator does not need to work at height to reeve the crane.”

“Having two front axles saves wear and tear on tires and brake pads which works out to be economical. Due to our strict local road regulations, the under 12-tonne axle load feature is also a must for us here in the Netherlands.”

Crane operator Meint Jan Wever added: “A lot of thought has been put into the cab layout making for an excellent working environment. I’m 2.05 metres (6ft.8”) tall and still find it comfortable… so if there’s plenty of room for me to stretch my legs, then there’s got to be more than enough room for anyone!”
