SMIE up 12%

SMIE, the leading anti-collision system manufacturer for tower cranes has reported a 12 percent increase in revenues for the 12 months to the end March.

Total revenues at the company, which is increasingly adding crane management and safety systems for mobile cranes to its range were €3.5 million, 12 percent higher than in the previous year. At the same time the company says that it returned a modest net profit for the period.

The company says that while the market for its products is still tough and uncertain, its policies of diversification both geographically and product wise, is paying off and should see the business continue to improve in the current year having got off to a strong start in its first quarter.

Chief executive Fabrice Bonassera said: “We are very proud of the achievements that our team has managed this year, which has resulted in double-digit revenue growth for the fiscal year, and the outstanding figures for the first quarter of the current year, with this trend we can see that we may well achieve €5 million this year.”

“We have learned the lessons of the past and have bounced back despite all the difficulties both internal and circumstantial. Thus, in June 2011, we announced the DLZ-AC system dedicated to mobile cranes. Meanwhile, our R & D department was already working to develop the ProSite Safety system, the first brick in our new functional management solution PROSITE site.”

“PROSITE can manage and supervise all of the cranes on a large construction site, launched as a prototype at Intermat, the solution has been received very enthusiastically throughout the profession. The system is scheduled for production towards the end of this year and should propel the company into a new era, which will guarantee once again its innovation pioneer status.”
