Double fatality in Florida

Two men working from a self-propelled boom lift were electrocuted after they inadvertently touched a power line in Fort Myers, Florida on Friday.

The two, Juan Bocanegra, 37, and Dustin Manning, 30, were planning to remove fascia mouldings/boards damaged by woodpeckers at a beach condominium but they raised the boom directly into the power lines.

The emergency services had to wait for Florida Power and Light to turn off the power before they could assist. Bocanegra was employed by J Baller Construction, while Manning was working for Cutting Edge Moldings. The two were using one of two JLG 600S on site, supplied by Sunbelt Rentals.
